Tips and tricks – how to decorate your fireplace for Christmas

You cannot say that your house is fully transformed for the festive season until you have finished decorating your fireplace and if you are in the mood of making it stand out, then you should know that it is best to choose a specific decor theme. And if you are out of ideas, then the following tips and tricks are perfect for you because you can easily get some inspiration from them.

Stockings everywhere

A fireplace full of festive dangling stockings is always a great idea, especially if you have children. Or if you are throwing a Christmas Eve party and you know that your guests will come with their children, then stockings are the way to go. You can even put nice little gifts inside the stockings.

Homemade Christmas decorations

If you love to make different DIY projects, then you can decorate your fireplace with homemade Christmas decorations. For example, you can take some mason jars and fill them with pine cones or lace fairy lights for a snowy vibe.

Go for something more traditional

From tartan stockings and Christmas tinsel to fairy lights – you can use everything you like. Display some pine cones here and there in order to give your fireplace a country scheme. Also, snow globes and reindeer ornaments are perfect when decorating the fireplace.

Dreaming of a white Christmas

If your fireplace is white and the room itself has a more minimalist look, then you can go for an all-white Christmas decor. For example, you can make DIY paper pine trees and put them all over the fireplace to make it look like a snowy woodland. Moreover, in order to make the atmosphere more warm and cosy, you can add lots of white tea lights and glitter candles.

Advent fireplace

If you are throwing a Christmas party, then it would be nice if you would string Advent calendar pouches with guests’ names on them. You can fill the pouches with sweets, festive Christmas cookies or little gifts.

Go for a minimalist decor

If you are not a fan of all sorts of sparkly Christmas decorations, then you can use more basic and almost inconspicuous items, such as a wooden star, some black and white candles, and a sprig of mistletoe. Or if you think that the wooden star is too ordinary, then you can replace it with a wreath in the shape of a star.
