The Green House

All information you need for a green house.

Traditional Houses-cheap and ecological

Who does not want a house warm in winter and cool in summer? For such housing all industrial products fade in front of more accessibility clay, think the British builders.

The inhabitants of North Africa used clay as a building material since the 11th century. The combination of clay and straw drew the attention of Europeans three centuries later, so that in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the majority of British homes were built from the ground. Industrialization and lower price of brick have led to the loss of the custom, which was to be “unearthed” at the very late ’90s, when a resident of British country of Devon had built a huge clay firm.

According to The Independent, another house built from earth in 2005 was named the most performing house of the year, by the Royal Institute of British Architects. Moreover, constructions of clay are the environmentalists’ favorites. They believe that the earth is the perfect option for a green home.

It is cheap, ecological, traditional … Perfect for any climatic type, cool in the summer and warm in the winter … As for aesthetics, I do not know if someone who does not dream of some windows with a sill so deep that you can sit comfortably and read a book … British architects awarded it as the most performing house.
Why earth architecture? How can I use the earth as a building material?

Perhaps these are the first questions that arise in the mind to anyone. I admit that at first I laughed myself to such an idea. But I saw a modern house made of earth, even I have plastered a wall of clay and so I started to consider more closely the potential of this material.

Why earth? It has good thermal properties, noise, regulates indoor climate balanced by an exchange with the environment, not by expensive climate equipment, it is healthy and even look good.

How can I use? In many ways: unburnt brick masonry, earth pressed monolithic wall panels, prefabricated earth, colors and varied textures.

Countries with tradition in this area, although it seems strange, are the U.S. and Canada … in the U.S., in the south, around the country, whole villages are built of adobe– which is a kind of unburned brick … I do not speak of Mexico and South America where generally it is the predominantly construction system for thousands of years …
