Traveling with your pet in 2021: What’s to know?

2020 has finally come to an end and people can’t help but feel happy. For many, it’s been the worst year they’ve experienced in their lifetime, marked by loss, anxiety, and, of course, disease. Holidaymakers haven’t been able to go abroad due to the harsh restrictions. The coronavirus outbreak quickly changed all their plans. 2020 has been different and somewhat challenging for everyone. The good news is that several countries are open to tourism and business travel, so with no restrictions at all. If you’re planning to travel for your next holiday, make sure to bring your furry friend along for the fun. Keep on reading to discover everything there is to know about traveling with pets in 2021.

EU rules on traveling with pets and other animals

Your pet is a member of the family, so it’s understandable that you don’t want to leave them behind when you travel. If you’re planning a month-long holiday, you’ll want to include your dog or cat in the plan. If your furry friend happens to be sick, it’s not a good idea to force them to travel because the sudden change in routine will stress them out. In this respect, it’s necessary to find a good kennel gardermoen; they will be safe and comfortable at the kennel without you. If your dog or cat doesn’t have any illness or physical impairment, they are well-suited for travel. If you’re taking a trip to Europe, stick to the rules. It’s necessary to:

  • Have your dog or cat micro-chipped
  • Vaccinate your dog or cat against rabies
  • Treat your dog or cat against tapeworm, where necessary
  • Have a valid European pet passport, when traveling from a non-EU country

As things move forward, it might not be necessary to meet all these requirements. Nonetheless, make sure you’re prepared ahead of time.

Traveling with your pet in your own country

It’s impossible to predict what will happen in future time due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus. Flying off to a remote destination may be out of the question. If you need to take a break from it all, consider a last-minute gateway that doesn’t require much planning. Traveling in your own country comes with many benefits, including making friends that are closer to home, increasing your knowledge of your own country, and spending less money. There are incredible places to visit that you haven’t seen. If you’ve got a senior dog or cat, get a crate or install an extra seat belt in the back of the car. Nevertheless, keep your pet’s health in mind. It’s recommended to arrange a stay at a hundepensjonat.

Even if you’d like to have your best friend by your side at all times, traveling can turn out to be challenging and stressful. Your dog or cat won’t be having a good time, that’s for sure. Think about leaving them at home with a trusted sitter or leave them at a boarding kennel. They will take really good care of your pet while you’re away.
