What to Consider When Choosing a Vet Clinic for Your Cat

When vet day comes, either for a regular health check or because you suspect something is off with your cat, it’s important to choose a good clinic.

Depending on where you live, the clinics available to you may or may not have had a great deal of training on cats, but many vets are increasingly knowledgeable and passionate about cats.

You may already opt for a clinic that you’re satisfied with or may have had a clinic recommended to you by a friend or relative, which is always a good starting point, but what else can you look for? You will want to find a vet clinic where they make efforts to reduce the stress of the visit for your pet and where you will find a reliable vet.

Legit Credential

Perhaps the most important thing to consider when looking for a dyreklinikk nittedal is credentials. Before you leave your pet in the vet’s care, you want to be sure that they have the expertise and knowledge to treat them as professionals. Ask them that you’re considering their education and professional credentials. You should also ask them how long they have been practicing and how they handle the latest advancements in the industry. By doing so, you will ensure your cat receives only high-quality medical care.

Facilities

Contact the dyreklinikk nittedal and explain you are looking for a place where you can take your cat and ask if you can pay a visit to see their facilities. Most doctors will be more than happy to show you around the clinic and allow you to see what facilities they provide. Think of it from your pet’s point of view as well, and whether you consider she would feel safe/comfortable there. Note that different clinics may have different facilities and different approaches to cats and their owners.

Using Cat-Friendly Pheromones

The establishment may well use synthetic feline pheromones (chemicals which are similar to those produced by the cats to communicate with each other) to help cats feel safer. Of course, you won’t even sense such chemicals, but the clinic may use a spray or an electric diffuser in the waiting room or consultation room.

When choosing a vet clinic for your cat, you should look for a clean waiting room and consolation room, but ideally without an exaggerated smell of disinfectant (which could stress your pet).

Attitude of Staff

We wish that all staff in the clinic, from the receptionist to the vet, know and understand the important differences in dealing with cats. Unfortunately, not all clinics are kattehotell, but you can tell a lot by greetings you receive, the questions that are asked, and the suggestions that are given when you first enter the building. However, if you find your clinic has made a great effort to improve both your and your pet’s experience of visiting the vet, then that’s both the place and people you should stick to.
